Customize your own small gift boxes in four simple steps!

Sometimes all you need is a little gift box!

I made these gift boxes a few years ago to package up my annual Christmas fudge for friends and family.  These were the best little boxes ever for the fudge.  Unfortunately, with a “fudge list” of 60+ and growing, it was quite a time consuming project so in the subsequent years I’ve opted to buy packages from the store but they never seem to work just as perfectly for the fudge gifts.

So… if you’re not making 60 boxes, this is a cute, fun little project to personalize a small gift!

DIY Gift Boxes

Materials:

  • 6×6 card stock scrapbook paper
  • Ruler
  • Exacto knife or box cutter
  • Tape

Directions:

1.  Choose two coordinating or matching pieces of 6×6 inch scrapbook card stock.  Since mine was a Christmas theme, I just bought a whole book of 6×6 Christmas themed paper

2.  On the backside of the paper, use a ruler to draw a one inch margin on all four sides of the paper that will be the box bottom.  Draw a 3/4 inch margin for the paper that will be the box top.  This creates four boxes in each of the corners.  Use the ruler to draw a diagonal line from the outer corner to the inner corner.  Lightly score all of these lines with the exacto knife or box cutter.

3. Fold up each side creating an inner triangle with the edges.  Tape the triangle to one side.  Repeat for all four side.

4.  Put the boxes together and your box is made.

Addendum…   For my fudge I made one more “box” with wax paper to put inside the bottom half and then placed the fudge inside it (to prevent it from seeping through the paper box).   It worked perfectly!   Check it out!
